Reinstatement***
- the company must take action within 45 days or the policy is automatically re-instated
- Sickness will not be covered for the first 10 days after reinstatement
- Accidents covered first day
MR. WATSON: The "R". Reinstatement.
MR. WATSON: The policy lapsed, and now you want to reinstate it.
- You fill out a reinstatement application and pay back the premiums.
- Prove that you are still insurable.
- If the company takes no action within 45 days the policy will be automatically reinstated.
MR. WATSON: The reinstated policy won't cover sickness until ten days after reinstatement. Accidents will be covered first day. If you reinstated a policy yesterday, and you were run over by a bus today, are you covered?
ALL: Yes.
MR. WATSON: What if y'all were to have a heart attack?
ALL: No.
MR. WATSON: You have to wait how many days for sickness to be covered?
ALL: Ten days.
MR. WATSON: Know this table! You will see all of these!
MR. WATSON: This is a time-line of the claims process, and we give you the check mark to help you remember the time-frames of the claims process. If you make a check mark, you start here, on the left, go down, and then up. And I add a little diddley, going down at an angle. Y'all with me?
ALL: Um-hmm.
MR. WATSON: Now, that's a Hillbilly check mark.
MR. WATSON: Start here, at the 20, then down, to the 15, then up, to the 90, then add a tail going down to the 45.
MR. WATSON: The numbers again are 20 days, 15 days, 90 days and 45 days. Time Frames.
MR. WATSON: You have to remember these days.- Match these time frames up to the points on your Hillbilly graph. Follow the check mark.
- 20 days (insured must Notify company of a claim, Notice of Claims)
- 15 days (company must send Claim forms)
- 90 days (insured must submit Proof of loss)
- 45 days (company must pay, Time payment of claims)
WOMAN: I know. First 20, 15 at the bottom, 90 at the top and 45, is the end of the diddley, whatever a diddley is.
MR. WATSON: Good.
