As life expectancy increases due to continuous medical breakthroughs, so does the cost of health care. This issue has drawn a great deal of attention to Medicare supplements and long-term care, the two types of health care policies designed to protect elderly people from the high costs of health care. This chapter will focus on these two types of policies.
