Overview and Learning Objectives

As illustrated in the previous chapter, Social Security alone is generally not an adequate means of maintaining a comfortable standard of living. Thus, such things as life insurance, health insurance, and a good retirement plan are required to supplement Social Security payments when employment income has ceased. This chapter explains qualified and nonqualified retirement plans, as well as employer plans and individual plans.
