We've all heard the term "Social Security", but what is it? Social Security offers a foundation of protection against many events of financial loss that occur due to death, disability, or old age. Establishing who is covered by this protection, determining how the benefits are paid out, and identifying the types of benefits that are available is the aim of this chapter.
