Overview and Learning Objectives
State law requires a valid license before soliciting insurance. Also, the licensed agent would then require an appointment from an authorized insurance company. Ethics plays an important role.
In this chapter the student shall gain working knowledge as to what are acceptable practices and what are not acceptable. Most states require continuing education, as do most states, regarding further education in Ethics and or laws. All agents of all companies have a common obligation to work together in serving the best interests of the insuring public, by:
- understanding and observing the laws governing Life Insurance;
- presenting accurately and completely every fact necessary to a client's decision;
- being fair in all relations with colleagues and competitors; and
- always placing the policyholder's interests first.
The format of this chapter will change from a dialog to a text. We shall resume the dialog in the next chapters.
